Dr. Strieder-Barboza received her DVM from the Federal University of Santa Maria, Brazil, in 2009 and her Ph.D. in Comparative Medicine from Michigan State University in 2018. Her graduate studies focused on mechanisms of lipid mobilization in adipose tissue using lactating dairy cows with obesity as a model. As a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan, her research focuses on distinct adipose stromal cell subpopulations that regulate adipocyte metabolism in human obesity and type 2 diabetes.
