Background

The patient was referred for a conversion of a gastric bypass to a duodenal switch for weight regain. The patient had a gastric bypass 15 years ago and had regained all of her weight. Since we did not have access to her operative records we performed a ct scan of her abdomen to evaluate her anatomy. Incidentally a large mass was found in the excluded stomach. A push enteroscopy was performed to biopsy and characterize the mass. The biopsy was consistent with a spindle cell neoplasm located along the lesser curve in the antrum of the stomach. Laparoscopic Resection was performed and adjuvant Gleevec therapy was given due to the size of the tumor. This case highlights the possibility of unexpected findings in the excluded stomach.
